Lahore: As per an official handout from DIG Operations Lahore, as February marks the peak of kite-making season, Lahore Police has intensified its crackdown against kite manufacturers. Making, selling, flying, or transporting kites is a non-bailable offense, and Lahore Police is actively enforcing the Kite Flying Act.Providing details, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran stated that Punjab Society Checkpost (Sattu Katla Police) intercepted a Suzuki pickup loaded with kites and raw materials at WAPDA Town Roundabout during a snap-checking operation.500 kites, 40 spools of string, 33 reels of chemical-coated string, 7 bundles of chemical string, 1 spool stand, 8 kg of raw materials and Chemical-coated glass. The arrested suspects, Muhammad Azeem Bhatti and Muhammad Naeem Bhatti, were attempting to supply kites for Sunday sales.DIG Operations Faisal Kamran emphasized that Lahore Police's primary target is dismantling the entire kite-making network.

Intelligence-based operations are was conducted against kite manufacturers across the city.He revealed that in just the first half of February, police arrested 20 major suppliers, raided 7 kite-making factories, and seized over 15,000 kites and 227 spools of string. Since the beginning of the year, 399 kite flyers have been arrested, and police have confiscated 19,540 kites and 548 spools of string. Additionally, 36 major online kite sellers have been jailed.DIG Operations further stated that surveillance and tracking of suspects are leading to the destruction of large-scale kite manufacturing networks and the arrest of their facilitators. He reiterated that kite flying is a deadly game, and no leniency will be shown. Those who promote this life-threatening activity do not deserve any concession.
