Lahore: Coordinator to Federal Tax Ombudsman Saif Ur Rehman on Sunday said

construction industry plays a pivotal role in development as a key driver of growth that contributes significantly to GDP, providing jobs to millions of workers, including skilled and unskilled labor. Speaking here on Sunday to a delegation of industrialists led by Mian Zahid Iqbal former VP Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry,he said the construction industry is a cornerstone of Pakistan's development, driving economic growth, creating jobs, and improving infrastructure. With proper planning, investment, and policy support, it can continue to be a catalyst for progress and prosperity in the country. He said this sector is essential for building infrastructure such as roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, and housing, which are fundamental to improving the quality of life and fostering economic activity. Saif Ur Rehman said in recent years, the Pakistani government has prioritized infrastructure development through initiatives like the China- Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has spurred construction activities and attracted foreign investment. These projects not only enhance connectivity but also create opportunities for related industries, such as cement, steel, and engineering services. However, the industry faces challenges, including regulatory hurdles, lack of modern technology, and insufficient financing options. Addressing these issues is crucial to unlocking the sector's full potential. Sustainable construction practices and the adoption of innovative technologies can further enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
