LHC constitutes full bench to hear the petitions against 27th constitutional amendment

Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has constituted a full bench to hear the petitions against 27th constitutional amendment.

Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal heard the petitions filed against 27th constitutional amendment 2025.

The court sent the petitions to 3-member full bench for hearing.

Petitions filed by advocate Muhammad Shahid Rana and Hassan Latif Chaudhry came up for hearing in the court.

Prime Minister (PM) , Speaker National Assembly (NA) and ministry of law have been made respondents in the petitions.

The petitioner has taken the plea that immunity under the amendment runs contrary to article 248 of the constitution. Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has been made unconstitutional court due to establishment of Federal Constitutional Court (FCC).

According to petitioners bid has been made to curtail the powers of SCP through the amendment.

The judicial powers have been curtailed and independence of courts have been put to threat by curtailing judicial powers. The constitutional structure has been affected due to amendment without the consultation of the provinces.

It has been prayed in the petition court should nullify the shifting of cases to constitutional court. 27th constitutional amendment be declared null and void by declaring the 27th constitutional amendment extra judicial.
