LHC dismisses petition seeking immediate suspension of Punjab Motor Vehicle Ordinance -2025

Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected the plea to immediately suspend Punjab Motor Vehicle Ordinance -2025.The court while issuing notice to Punjab government and others on the petition against Punjab Motor vehicle Ordinance -2025 has sought reply within two weeks.Justice Farooq Haider of LHC took up the petition filed by advocate Azhar Siddique for hearing Monday.Azhar Siddique advocate appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner.He took the plea the amount of penalties have been enhanced under motor vehicle ordinance. Heavy fines are being imposed on the citizens and cases are being registered against them.Advocate Azhar Siddique raised the point ordinance can not be promulgated when parliament is in session . Therefore, court should declare the ordinance unconstitutional and immediately suspend it .The court has sought reply from Punjab government and others within two weeks.LHC while dismissing the plea seeking immediate suspension of ordinance said that any decision regarding halting implementation will be made on receipt of replies from the respondents.The court adjourned hearing of the case for two weeks.
