Muzaffarabad: Vice Chairman of Tehreek-e-Isteqamat Jammu and Kashmir, Syed Gulshan Ahmad, has expressed deep concern and sorrow over the alarming situation in occupied Kashmir on the occasion of International Human Rights Day.
In his statement, he said that the continuous raids, cordon-and-search operations, arrests, and assaults on homes have severely violated the fundamental freedoms and human dignity of the people in the occupied region.
He voiced serious concern over the prolonged detentions, imprisonment, and extended court hearings of Hurriyat leaders and ordinary civilians, stating that thousands have been languishing in jails for years, where they face inhumane treatment and severe legal hardships.
Syed Gulshan Ahmad urged the international community, human rights organizations, and the United Nations to take notice of the grim situation in occupied Kashmir, play their role in stopping human rights violations, and take practical steps toward a fair and lasting resolution of the long-standing Kashmir dispute.
In conclusion, he said that International Human Rights Day reminds the world that the people of Kashmir are also citizens of this globe, entitled to the same rights of freedom, justice, and dignified living as any other human being.
