Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has dismissed the constitutional petitions related to registration of FIRs against the tax payers.

LHC bench comprising Justice Hassan Makhdoom and Justice Khalid Ishaq has issued written decision on the petitions filed by Mehmood Akhtar and others.

As per media report, the court maintained that the petitions are dismissed being baseless.

The investigation agency and respective court should decide the case in the light of law, available material and evidence.

It was made clear in the decision that this verdict of the high court will not leave negative impact on court or any investigation agency.

At this stage this is not being decided that tax is payable or otherwise by the petitioners. The respective forum will decide about payment of tax on the basis of the evidence.

The petitioners had challenged the proceedings of DG Intelligence and Investigation inland revenue.

The petitioners were of the view notices were issued. FIRs were registered after giving the reply. The matter is pending hearing in income tax tribunal.

According to the petitioners registration of FIR when the matter is pending hearing before tax officer is illegal and baseless.
