Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued stay order against auction of 52 shops of the Municipal corporation.

A two members bench of LHC presided over by Justice Waqar Haider Awan of LHC took up the case for hearing.

The counsel took the plea that agreement was reached with Municipal Corporation on the basis of five years rent. But five years have not been completed that notice for vacation of the shops were sent besides fixing the date for auction .

The counsel said the procedure for auction of shops is illegal and unconstitutional. The administration is auctioning the shops by violating the agreement. Therefore, court should declare the auction of the shops null and void.

The two members bench while admitting the petition for hearing issued stay order against the auction of 52 shops.

The court has summoned DC Faisalabad on next hearing.
