Lahore: Contempt of court plea has been filed against Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz and information minister Punjab Azma Bukhari in Lahore High Court (LHC).

The contempt of court petition has been filed by citizen Munir Ahmad through Azhar Siddique advocate.

The petitioner has taken plea the critical statements on court's order in regard to Punjab Property Ownership Act (PPOA) fall under the ambit of contempt of court. The reputation of the judiciary was hurt due to statement given on suspension of property law.

It was further said in the petition attempt was made to make the court controversial through the statement of CM. Declaring that court's order are supportive of land mafia is serious offence. Giving LHC order political hue is illegal act.

The petitioner said the statements by high officials can influence judicial process. Therefore, Maryam Nawaz and Azma Bukhari be issued show cause notice. LHC should initiate contempt of court proceedings against CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz and Azma Bukhari.
