Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has nullified death sentence awarded to accused in the case of murdering a girl due to her refusal for marriage.
LHC bench comprising Justice Shehram Sarwar and Justice Sardar Ali Akbar Dogar issued written decision for acquitting the accused by nullifying the decision of death sentence.
It has been said in the court’s decision that as per prosecution the accused had murdered the girl on her refusal for marriage with him.
Trial court awarded death sentence and fine to the accused in 2022.
It has been said in the court’s decision that postmortem of victim was conducted 7 hours late. Prosecution completely failed in proving its case against the accused. Therefore, death sentence of the accused is declared null and void and he is acquitted.
