Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered to release an accused Muhammad Sarwar on bail in the case of possessing counterfeit Pakistani currency valuing Rs 2 lac.

Justice Muhammad Amjid Pervaiz of LHC while declaring the confessional statement of the accused unacceptable remarked no solid proof is there in support of the allegation of manufacturing and selling counterfeit currency .

According to the decision the case against Muhammad Sarwar was registered in FIA Corporate Crime Circle Lahore on March 02, 2026. The case related to fake currency was registered under sections B-489 and C-489 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

According to FIA the accused was arrested from a crowded public site on tip off. During the search fake currency notes worth Rs 2 lac were recovered from the possession of the accused. The currency notes recovered from him were 200 of Rs 1000 each.

FIA also alleged that the accused confessed at the time of arrest he was making and selling fake currency notes since one year.

The court maintained the arrest was made at a renowned public place but no independent witness was included during proceedings. No acceptable proof is available on the record against the accused in support of making or selling fake currency notes in the market.

Justice Amjid Pervaiz wrote in his decision only possessing fake currency is not sufficient for offence under section B-489.

The court maintained bail cannot be stopped for awarding punishment to any accused and the accused is considered innocent till the crime is proved.
