LHC rejects appeal pleas against reinstatement of sacked employees of state bank

Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected appeal pleas against the reinstatement of sacked employees of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) besides dismissing 10 petitions of State Bank and SBP Bank Services.

Justice Abid Hussain of LHC announced 8 pages decision.

The court while upholding the decision of Labor court and NIRC regarding reinstatement and regularization of employee maintained the employees who have worked more than 9 months are eligible for regularization .

The court declared illegal the sacking of employees through verbal order.

The court ordered for immediate reinstatement of sacked employees with all perks and privileges .

Declaring the state bank as commercial establishment in the decision , the implementation of labor law was declared compulsory.

It was made clear the internal rules of the bank don't hold have priority over labor laws.

It was further said the record profit is evidence of its trade status.

State Bank stance was also rejected with reference to decision of Sindh High Court (SHC).
