Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has reserved judgment on the maintainability of petition against Practice and Procedure Ordinance (PPO)- 2024.Earlier Sindh High Court (SHC) had reserved judgment on the maintainability of practice and procedure ordinance .Justice Yousuf had remarked decision on the petition will be issued today but the decision was not issued.in this perspective petition filed against Supreme Court Practice and procedure ordinance-2024 came up for hearing in LHC Wednesday.Chief Justice (CJ) LHC Aalia Neelum took up for hearing the petition filed by the citizen Munir Ahmad.Additional Attorney General (AAG) Nasar Ahmad appeared in the court on behalf of federal government.Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Asad Bajwa and Assistance Attorney General (AAG) Ijaz Basra too appeared.Azhar Siddique advocate counsel for the petitioner gave argumentsCJ LHC inquired from the counsel of the petitioner you should tell grounds the ordinance is illegal why.The counsel for the petitioner said there was no situation of emergency due to which this ordinance was promulgated.The counsel for the petitioner argued assembly was there and even then ordinance was promulgated. New committee was constituted following the promulgation of ordinance. Earlier practice and procedure act was brought. Earlier all the powers rested with chief justice.The counsel for federal government while raising objection over petition against practice and procedure ordinance took the plea ordinance has been challenged in SHC and Supreme Court (SC). SHC has reserved the judgment.Counsel for federal government argued this petition can be filed in the court which falls in the jurisdiction of Islamabad. SC is the biggest court of country. LHC has no power of jurisdiction to hear this case.He prayed the court to reject this petition.Later the LHC reserved judgment on maintainability of petition against supreme court practice and procedure ordinance.
