Lahore: IG Punjab Rao Abdul Karim and other senior officers appeared in Lahore High Court (LHC) during the hearing of the case of non recovery of a girl Muqaddas Bibi who was kidnapped 4 years before.
Chief Justice (CJ) LHC Aaliya Neelum heard the case.
The petitioner Salma Bibi took the plea her daughter was kidnapped for years back but police have failed in taking effective measures.
The court while expressing dissatisfaction over the report presented by IG Punjab remarked the kidnapped grils in large number have not been recovered so far. This is responsibility of police these girls be recovered.
IG Punjab told the court over one lac cases related to women were registered during the last five years from 2021 to 2025. Thousands of kidnapping cases are included therein. However several girls are still missing.
The court inquired why the recovery of girls in such large number could not become possible.
The court ordered to take action against the investigation officers on poor performance.
The CJ LHC directed an effective mechanism be evolved. Persons found responsible be determined and complete report be presented on next hearing.
The court further ordered to provide details of pending cases pertaining to missing persons and focus be placed particularly on cases of girls immediately.
Hearing of the case was adjourned till April 01.
The court also directed special team to appear on next hearing.
