Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) while seeking more arguments from the respondents during the hearing of petitions against Local Bodies Act-2025 has adjourned the proceedings.

Justice Sultan Tanvir of LHC took up for hearing petitions filed against local bodies act-2025.

During the hearing of petitions filed by PTI, JI and others , the Advocate General (AG) office filed reply to special notice.

Assistant Advocate General (AAG) barrister Saad Ghazi took the plea there is no such restriction in local bodies act -2025 under which the candidates cannot participate in the election on party ticket.

Justice Sultan Tanvir remarked during the hearing assembly floor has too much importance. No institution should be targeted from therein.

He said time has come all institutions should respect each other. We will respect you. You should respect us. Pakistan has to move forward. The institutions should learn that mutual respect is must.

The court made it clear legislation is mandate of parliament. The court will decide within parameters of the constitution. Court wants this case is decided before Local Bodies polls.

The counsels for the petitioners took the plea several clauses of Local Bodies act-2025 are in clash with the constitution. Therefore the court should declare it null and void.

The court while directing the counsels of the petitioners to give more arguments adjourned the hearing of the case.
