LHC summons officers of respective departments on petition against kite flying

Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has called Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore, DGPR School Education and officers of Higher Education Department on January 28 on the petition filed against kite flying.

Justice Malik Owais Khalid of LHC took up the case for hearing Monday.

Justice Malik Owais Khalid remarked Basant is going to become a big festival. However it is basic responsibility of government to provide protection against any loss.

Azhar Siddique counsel for the petitioner argued permission of celebrating Basant be limited to specific areas. Order be issued for celebrating Basant for one day instead of 3 days.

During the hearing of the case, special home secretary and officers of the respective departments appeared in the court .

Special home secretary told the court Basant is being celebrated only in Lahore. Complete ban is imposed in celebrating Basant in other cities.

Justice Malik Owais Khalid remarked fire incidents are being reported now a days. Special arrangements should be made to stop fire incident during Basant. The future of minor children can be affected if the cases are registered against them.

Special secretary home clarified cases are not registered against minor children They are only fined.

The court directed that effective steps be taken to ensure that metallic string is not brought from other provinces.

During the Basant 70 clinic on wheels will remain available in the field. Special arrangements' have been made in all government hospitals. Rescue has been kept alert.

LHC directed that awareness campaign be launched among students against hazards of Basant.

The court while adjourning hearing of the case till January 28 has summoned the officers of the respective departments.
