Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has wrapped up petition filed against 27th constitutional amendment being withdrawn by the petitioner.
Citizen Hassan Latif withdrew his petition and justice Chaudhry Iqbal wrapped up it being withdrawn.
Additional Attorney General (AAG) Nasar Ahmad told the court during the hearing of the case more changes are under consideration in 27th constitutional amendment and it is possible the objections of petitioner are removed following changes in the amendment.
The court inquired does the petitioner want to withdraw petition.
Advocate Maqsat Saleem counsel for the petitioner took the plea he is withdrawing the petition. However he will challenge 27th constitutional amendment again if he is not satisfied over the amendment in future.
Justice Javed Iqbal Chaudhry wrapped up the petition being withdrawn remarking the petitioner can file the new petition again if he wills so.
Prime Minister (PM), speaker National Assembly (NA) and law ministry were made respondents in the petition.
The petition said the proposals for transferring the powers of Supreme Court (SC) to Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) and granting life immunity to Chief of Defence Staff under 27th constitutional amendment are in conflict with spirit of the constitution. Therefore, the court should nullify this amendment declaring it against the constitution.
