Majority in Judicial Commission belongs to govt, decisions will not be made in courts but elsewhere: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

Lahore: Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said, 'What could be a greater tragedy than the fact that now the Chief Justice of a constitutional court will be appointed by the Prime Minister? The position of Chief Justice of Pakistan has been renamed as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, he said and added the government is distorting the Constitution for its own interests. Jamaat-e-Islami stood with the Constitution during the 26th Amendment, and even today, we stand firmly with it'.Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views while addressing the 'National Conference' organized by the Lahore Bar Association at Aiwan-e-Adl, Lahore. On this occasion, President of the Lahore Bar Association Chaudhry Mubashar Rehman Advocate, Vice President Malik Saif Khokhar Advocate, and President of the Islamic Lawyers Movement Kaleem Javed were also present.Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said, 'We believe in the supremacy of the Constitution, and Jamaat-e-Islami's struggle is for the protection of the Consti tution and the rule of law in the country. If the unanimously adopted Constitution continues to be treated as a child's plaything, it will endanger national unity. For the safety and integrity of the Federation, it is essential that the nation unites to safeguard the Constitution.'He added, 'Insha'Allah, we will restore the Constitution of Pakistan in its original form. During the 26th Constitutional Amendment, our stance was clear, and now, despite the political maneuvering around the 27th Amendment, Jamaat-e-Islami's position remains the same as it was then.'Hafiz Naeemur Rehman further said, 'The Constitution clearly states that sovereignty belongs to Allah Almighty. Neither the Constitution nor Islam grants immunity to any individual, no matter how high his position. The Khulafa-e-Rashideen appeared before courts, setting the best examples of constitutional and legal supremacy. Islam does not give exemption even to the most powerful. Our demand is that the Constitution of Pakistan be restored to its o riginal form.'He said, 'The imposed system is depriving the children of Pakistan of education. The gap between the rich and the poor is widening, and this divide has now reached our schools. Education, healthcare, and employment are not among the government's priorities. The rulers claim that the economy is improving, while the lives of ordinary citizens are deteriorating. The stock exchange may be rising, but the condition of the people is worsening. Half of the population is forced to live below the poverty line. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claims that the economy is heading in the right direction according to the stock exchange, but if one visits a neighborhood shop, they can see how much inflation has risen and how much the common man is suffering.'He continued, 'The nation continues to be deceived by those who are artificially made into leaders. To change this oppressive system, we must engage in a long and determined struggle. Sometimes slogans and sometimes certain families hold the nation hostag e. Here, politics has been captured by family dynasties, and a few families have been exploiting the people for decades. The wealthy become senators, and then even those senators are bought. Whoever has the establishment's support is hailed as a hero, while the rest are discarded.'Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said, 'Since 2015, no local government elections have been held in Punjab. Now, a new Local Government Act has been introduced to hold non-party elections. This deceptive politics and system serve only the elite, not the common man. To change this system, our movement will begin in the last week of November from Minar-e-Pakistan. Therefore, we call upon the lawyers and people from all walks of life to participate in the public gathering and become companions in bringing change.'
