Karachi: A ceremony was held at Manghopir Police Station in District West on Wednesday to mark Pakistan's Independence Day and pay tribute to the sacrifices of police martyrs.
On the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) West, Tariq Elahi Mastoi also inaugurated the renovated building of Manghopir Police Station.
The ceremony was attended by SSP West, all Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs)of the district, police officers and personnel, and families of police martyrs.
Addressing the gathering, Tariq Elahi Mastoi expressed his commitment to the security, stability and progress of Pakistan and paid tribute to the invaluable sacrifices of police martyrs.
The SSP also met families of the martyrs and distributed gifts among them.
Later, the SSP and other police officers presented a guard of honour and laid wreaths at the Martyrs' Memorial at Manghopir Police Station.
The ceremony concluded with a dinner hosted in honour of the participants and families of the police martyrs, according to the District West Police spokesperson.
