Lahore: Chairperson of the Carpet Training Institute (CTI), Ijazur Rehman, has said that manufacturers and exporters can now establish direct and seamless connections with international buyers through modern digital tools.
Addressing a seminar titled 'Access to Global Markets through E-Commerce', he emphasized that in view of changing global trends, e-commerce and stronger linkages with foreign buyers should be made a permanent part of policy reforms for Pakistan's handmade carpet industry to ensure wider access to global markets.
A large number of handmade carpet manufacturers and exporters attended the event and lauded Ijazur Rehman's efforts as Chief Organizer of the 41st International Exhibition of Handmade Carpets.
Ijazur Rehman noted that developing social media strategies and improving e-commerce platforms are essential steps to help manufacturers and exporters overcome challenges in online sales. He informed participants that several global virtual marketplaces - including eBay, Craigslist, Etsy, Amazon Global, Facebook Marketplace, Mercari, and 5miles - allow Pakistani exporters to register and sell their handmade products.
He added that effective product promotion is also possible through Instagram, WhatsApp, and YouTube, stressing that product details and prices must be accurately mentioned to help buyers make informed decisions.
Highlighting the ease of building online stores, he said modern website builders such as Wix, Squarespace, and Zyro now offer advanced features, including AI heat maps, at affordable rates.
Ijazur Rehman urged Pakistani handmade carpet manufacturers and exporters to adopt digital tools and develop comprehensive online sales strategies to enhance exports of Pakistan's world-renowned handmade carpets.
