Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has said all friendly countries including US, China, Saudi Arabia Turkiye, Azerbaijan supported Pakistan forcefully during tension between Pakistan and India.
Mourning prevails in India due to our best and successful diplomacy, he added.
The world witnessed India's claims of hegemony blown into the air during the recent conflict with Pakistan.
Briefing media persons in Islamabad Wednesday on Pakistan's diplomatic outreach before and after the recent conflict with India, he mentioned that Pakistan downed six Indian fighter jets and one UAV.
He said while Pakistan's kinetic action has been appreciated, its diplomatic efforts have also earned international recognition. He noted that there is even an outcry within India over Pakistan's successful diplomatic outreach.
He said ceasefire is holding but regretted the political rhetoric on the part of India saying the Indian leaders are doing so in view of the upcoming elections.
Ishaq Dar said Pakistan is ready for dialogue with India, but not desperate for it. He said Pakistan seeks a composite dialogue that includes terrorism as well as other issues, including Indus Waters Treaty. He said if India tried to divert or stop water, it will be tantamount to an act of war. He said the Indus Waters Treaty cannot be suspended or amended as per the international law.
Turning to recent four-nation tour, Ishaq Dar said the Prime Minister undertook a visit to Turkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan to express Pakistan's gratitude for the solidarity expressed by these countries during the conflict with India.
Replying to a question, Ishaq Dar said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is visiting Kingdom of Saudi Arabia tomorrow to express gratitude to its support and solidarity with Pakistan.
The Deputy Prime Minister said Pakistan is a peace loving country and its focus is on economic development.
He said Pakistan will assume the Presidency of UN Security Council next month.
He said that discussions will be held on the theme titled "Promoting International Peace and Security through Multilateralism and Peaceful Settlement of Disputes" at the United Nations.
He said India is not allowing SAARC to run. India's treatment with foreign minister of Iran was not good.
China is expanding CPEC on our request and this extension will be given upto Afghanistan.
