Lahore: Member of Punjab Assembly (MPA) Sheikh Imtiaz Mehmood has sought clarification from Election Commission (EC) through a letter written by him with reference to procedure of Local Bodies (LB) polls.

As per media reports the MPA has said in his letter how symbol of same one party will be given to 9 councilors in one UC.

Raising questions in his letter on the announcement of holding LB polls on party basis he has sought details on legal points related to election procedure.

He raised question what will be the procedure of election of several candidates on one party symbol. Clear guidance be provided in this regard.

He said in the perspective of pending petition in Lahore High Court immediate clarification from election commission is essential so that the procedure of local bodies election could be made clear.

He further said in his letter complete details of electoral laws and procedures be provided for holding transparent elections. It may be clarified what will be practical procedure for use of party symbol in respect of several candidates in one union council.
