Islamabad: Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the wife of jailed Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik, has expressed grave concern over the sentencing of Aasiya Andrabi to life imprisonment and the prolonged detention of Sofi Fahmeeda and Nahida Nasreen.
Mushaal Hussein Mullick, in a statement, issued in Islamabad said, 'This is deeply alarming. Sentencing Asiya Andrabi to life imprisonment, while Sofi Fahmeeda and Nahida Nasreen face decades behind bars after nearly 8 years in detention raises serious questions about justice and proportionality'.
She added, 'When speech, political belief, and association become grounds for such severe punishment, and when deterrence is used to 'send a message,' the rule of law risks turning into a tool of suppression.'
