Murdering girl under jirga decision in love marriage case: SC issues notice on appeal pleas seeking cancellation of bail of the accused

Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has issued notice and sought reply from the accused persons on the appeal pleas by Punjab Prosecution against their bail in the case of murdering a girl on the decision of jirga due to love marriage.

The hearing of the case has been adjourned till first week of June.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi and comprising justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the Punjab Prosecution appeal pleas against the bail of the accused.

Additional Advocate General (AAG) Punjab Ahmad Raza Gillani appeared in the court and said the girl was murdered after calling her from Kashmir under the decision of Jirga. The girl was buried after murdering her.

The CJP remarked should we issue notice to the accused in this case.

Advocate Ahmad Raza Gillani said yes notice must be issued in this case. Notice must be issued to the accused on the appeal pleas for cancellation of the bail of the accused.

The court issued notice upon it.

It is pertinent to mention here the case was registered in Fouji Colony Pir Wadhai Rawalpindi . The girl was murdered before her family members due to love marriage under the decision of jirga.

The body of girl was taken through loader rickshaw to grave yard for burial. FIR was registered in 2025.

Punjab prosecution has resorted to SC for cancellation of bail of the accused persons including Zafar Ullah.
