Islamabad: National Assembly (NA) Secretariat has written letter to MNA and opposition chief whip Malik Aamir Dogar whereby written explanation on current situation of the cases pending hearing against former opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan has been sought.

According to NA spokesperson this request has been made to obtain necessary information to complete the process of nomination of opposition leader in NA.

The spokesperson further said that the opposition had informed the NA Secretariat earlier that Ayub's cases were not pending, but no written confirmation was submitted.

The spokesperson further said that NA secretariat has been included as respondent in these cases. Therefore, verification of present situation of the cases is must.

This written verification is necessary to move ahead prescribed procedure for appointment of opposition leader so that this matter could be completed.

Chief whip opposition has been requested to provide requisite information as soon as possible so that the matter could be finalized soon.
