Islamabad: National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered case against Noreen Niazi sister of PTI founder Imran Khan under PECA act and Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). According to FIR, Noreen Niazi is charged with launching false propaganda against state and its institutions and fomenting harassment among people through social media.
The FIR also said Noreen Niazi was spreading false, provocative, insulting and threatening content. According to investigators, she was involved in ‘organised propaganda’ activities against the state institutions and security agencies via digital platforms, which is considered a violation of the country’s cybercrime law.
FIR said Noreen Niazi through a podcast leveled false and baseless allegations against state of Pakistan and its institutions including armed forces . She made bid to shake the confidence of the people on state and create harassment in the country. Her controversial interview was shared and made viral in different accounts of former twitter.
Noreen Niazi was directed to join investigation and record her statement through repeated notices. According to FIR proceedings has been initiated against under PECA Act 2016 and PPC .
