Islamabad: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued a notice to Noreen Niazi, sister of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), directing her to appear before its Islamabad office on July 20 in connection with an inquiry into alleged dissemination of false and provocative content against state institutions on social media.

According to the notice, issued under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Cr.P.C.), Noreen Niazi has been instructed to appear at 12:00 noon at the Cyber Crime Reporting Centre in G-13/3, Islamabad.

The notice warns that failure to comply may result in legal proceedings under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The inquiry follows controversial remarks allegedly made by Noreen Niazi during a recent interview regarding the "Maarka-e-Haq." She reportedly claimed that the operation was the result of a nexus between the Pakistan Armed Forces and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Political commentators cited in media reports said such statements reflect a particular political narrative and may create perceptions contrary to Pakistan's official position. They also cautioned that controversial claims of this nature could be exploited in anti-Pakistan propaganda and may reinforce hostile narratives.

No official findings have yet been announced by the investigating authorities, and the inquiry remains underway.
