Islamabad/rawalpindi: All the commercial banks in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have taken a tyrannical and anti people step that they are not accepting the electricity bills which are corrected by the relevant revenue office of IESCO.An electricity bill which is issued of Rs 51000 erroneously or through some mistake of Revenue office of IESCO and later it is corrected and it stands reduced to Rs 2500.How ironical it is that when any member of family takes the bill to any commercial bank for its payment the bank walas flatly refuse to accept the rectified bill saying stubbornly we will charge Rs 51000 in full and we don't accept this rectified bill of Rs 2500.Poor masses are being subjected to excesses due to overbilling so much so that every other day one consumer or two are constrained to commit suicide in the face of inflated bills due to negligence of respective office but the commercial banks on the other side have multiplied the miseries of poor consumers with not accepting the correcte d bill.Whenever asked why they are not collecting rectified bills they murmur mysteriously the state bank has stopped them from accepting rectified bills.The consumers have appealed to high ups of banks, government and particularly state bank to review their policy of rejecting corrected bill to let the poor consumers sigh a sigh of relief.
