Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Emir Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said the destruction of Karachi was not solely the responsibility of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and held the establishment equally responsible as, he said, it 'imposed corrupt and incompetent rulers on the people'.Addressing an inauguration ceremony for development projects, including the opening of the Shaheen Family Park and newly-constructed roads and streets in Bahadurabad Union Council-7 under Jinnah Town, the JI supreme leader said the public had now become politically aware and had recognised the power of its vote.'Our objective in the next elections is not only to secure the public mandate, but also to protect it fully,' Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said, warning that any attempt to 'steal the people's mandate' would be met with a strong public reaction. He said JI was struggling against what he described as an unjust system and seeking liberation from the interest-based economic order. 'For the past 78 years, only faces have changed, while the system has continued to revolve around dynasties, inheritance, and vested interests. That is why the condition of the people has not changed,' he said.Hafiz Naeemur Rehman added that the time had come not merely to replace individuals, but to intensify efforts for a complete transformation of the system. He said JI wanted to establish a just order capable of ensuring real justice, development and prosperity for the people. He said that the MQM had failed to win even a single polling station in the general elections, yet was 'imposed upon the people', terming it an insult to democracy and the public mandate. He criticised those who, according to him, had manipulated election results and undermined the people's decision.Criticising the PPP government in Sindh, he alleged that the party had remained in power in the province for 18 years and 'swallowed Rs3.36 trillion belonging to Karachi's residents'. 'Provision of basic facilities is the responsibility of the state and cannot be lef t to charities,' he said while saying that the government hides itself behind NGOs particularly in the health and other basic sectors. The ceremony was also addressed by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation opposition leader Saifuddin Advocate, JI district chief Engineer Abdul Aziz, Jinnah Town chairman Rizwan Abdul Samie and UC chairman Saleem Umar.Speaking on the occasion, Saifuddin said residents of Bahadurabad and the UC chairman deserved congratulations for supporting JI and strengthening the journey of public service. He said that the PPP had set 'new standards of corruption', criticising Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab for making announcements without delivering practical results for the city.A large number of residents, including women, children, elderly citizens and youth, attended the event and appreciated the efforts of JI's local government representatives.
