Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) constitutional bench has sought detailed report about the committee constituted by government to set procedure in connection with restoration of students union besides adjourning the hearing for indefinite period.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked students of all universities had become political wings in the past. New procedure be worked out this way that students should relate to respective universities.
Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan remarked with regret , now the institutions have become wings of political parties. Bar councils and bar associations have become wing of political parties.
He gave these remarks on Wednesday.
The case against ban on students union came up for hearing before five members bench of SC constitutional bench presided over by justice Amin ud Din Khan Wednesday.
Additional Attorney General (AAG) Amir Rehman took the plea government has constituted committee to settle the procedure for restoration of students union. Committee has given interim report too.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked there is no problem in private universities. Problems are there in government universities. `Becoming students welfare association is separate thing. Becoming wings of political parties is a separate thing. Political flags will come to universities if there are wings of political parties.
Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan remarked with regret, now the institutions have become wings of political parties. Bar councils and bar associations too have become wings of political parties.
The court while seeking detailed report about the committee constituted by government adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
