Pakistan contacts Singapore’s FM for repatriation of Pakistani, Iranian seafarers

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar has contacted foreign ministers of Singapore and Iran for return of Pakistani sailors.

DPM has made contacts with US authorities as well.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Friday that he had sought Singapore's support in repatriating Pakistani and Iranian seafarers aboard vessels seized by the US.

The vessels are currently near Singaporean waters, Dar said in a statement on US social media company X, adding that he spoke with his Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan in a phone call.

DPM Ishaq Dar wrote on X request has been made to foreign minister of Singapore to facilitate return of 11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian sailors on board the vessels. The vessels are near Singaporean waters .

He said Irani Foreign Minister (FM) Abbas Araghchi is in close contact on this matter. Pakistan is ready to provide facilities in return of Iranian citizens.

He said Pakistan appreciates for the cooperation and support extended by Singapore. Pakistan is in close contact with US authorities and other institutions to ensure security, welfare and early return of our citizens.
