Karachi: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan attended the 8th Pakistan Edible Oil Conference (PEOC-26) as the Chief Guest, highlighting Pakistan's growing trade potential and its advantages for regional and global markets.
Addressing industry stakeholders, Jam Kamal appreciated the Pakistan Edible Oil Refiners Association and Seed Association for promoting dialogue and cooperation in the edible oil and seed sectors. He emphasized that the conference provides a platform for stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and explore trade opportunities.
The Minister highlighted the recent visit of the President of Indonesia to Pakistan, describing it as a productive engagement that would further enhance bilateral trade, particularly in palm oil and other commodities, as well as in rare earth minerals. He noted that Pakistan has enjoyed long-term, friendly relations with Indonesia, reinforced through trade agreements.
Jam Kamal Khan also pointed to growing interest from countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, the United States, and Canada, emphasizing that trade engagements are evolving into strategic partnerships beyond traditional trade.
He remarked that the edible oil and oilseed sector provides a strong foundation to expand economic cooperation, build resilient supply chains, attract investment, and reduce delivery timelines. Highlighting Pakistan's investment potential, he noted the country's young labor force, competitive costs, and rapidly growing technological capabilities as key advantages for investors.
The Federal Minister further stated that Pakistan is implementing economic reforms aimed at stabilizing the macroeconomic environment, improving ease of doing business, and promoting export-led growth. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial trade partnerships.
Concluding his address, Jam Kamal congratulated the organizers and stakeholders, expressing confidence that the conference would generate practical insights and further strengthen Pakistan's international trade ties.
