Petition against E-Challan: SHC seeks reply from IG Sindh, DIG Traffic

Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) while issuing notice to the respondents on the petition against e-challans on violation of traffic rules has sought reply till November 25.

It has been said in the petition that the penalties imposed on violation of traffic rules are higher and unjust. The violation of traffic rules against which fine of Rs 200 is being received in other parts of the country, it is being charged Rs 5000 in Karachi.

The petition said traffic rules reforms have not been implemented in other major cities of the province.

The court should direct the respective authorities to satisfy the court that the fines are just and fair.

The process of imposed fine be suspended immediately.

Chief secretary Sindh, IG Sindh, DIG Traffic, Director General Excise and Taxation and Director General NADRA have been made respondents.

The court while issuing notice to the respondents on petition has sought reply till November 25.
