Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) while issuing notice to all the respondents on the petition filed against PTI call for long march and protest on September 27 has sought reply till September 10.

Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Sarfraz Dogar while declaring the matter constitutional crisis has decided to constitute larger bench besides seeking assistance from Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP).

The petition filed by citizen Waqas Ahmad came up for hearing before Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Sarfraz Dogar Tuesday.

The counsel for the petitioner told the court his client is trader in Islamabad while announcement for protest has been made by Chief Minister (CM) KP.

He said there is plan for bringing this protest to Islamabad. The business activities will be affected due to this protest.

The counsel took the plea all the matters of the petitioner are already pending hearing in the courts. And if permission is given to come on roads only for this reason then the people from all over the country will start protesting for their pending cases.

The counsel raised the question is September 27 protest a plan for attacking Adiala jail after GHQ attack.

He said 3 Rangers personnel were martyred during the attempt to enter into Islamabad in 2024 and loss of Rs 240 million was caused. If it is claimed that the protest will be peaceful then how the martyrdom of Rangers personnel took place.

He alleged this party wants to seek relief by putting pressure.

The CJ IHC inquired are the demonstrators bringing state machinery along with Chief Minister.

The counsel while giving reply in affirmative presented Interior ministry November 21, 2024 letter in the court wherein objection was raised on use of state machinery.

The counsel said the real cause behind the protest is a convicted prisoner and two appeals which are pending hearing in this court. It was repeatedly said to give arguments on them but he did not appear.

The counsel said if protest on roads be made justification on the basis of pending cases then respondents of other cases can adot this way.

He questioned if 20 lac people are brought then can the government get suspend the sentence from court in the appeals.

The court through the order directed chief secretaries of all the four provinces, IGs, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Deputy commissioner and IG Islamabad to appear before it in person.

Likewise notices were issued to Advocate Generals (AG's) of all the four provinces and Islamabad.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till September 10 due to importance of the matter.
