PGP sends letter for verification from Sex Offenders Register before appointments in educational institutions

Lahore: Prosecutor General Punjab (PGP) has sent letter for verification from Sex Offenders Register before appointment in educational institutions.

PGP Syed Farhad Ali Shah sent a 2-page letter to secretary prosecution wherein it is said verification from sex offenders record is must before making appointments of staff and faculty in educational institutions.

It has been said in the letter that the sex offenders register is effective tool for protection of children in educational institutions. A big vacuum is there in the existing appointment system in connection with the protection of the children. The previous sex crimes record does not come to open due to persisting back ground checks.

According to the letter the appointment of sex offender can become threat for the entire system. The law and justice department should evolve mechanism for access to sex offender register.

Sex offender verification be declared compulsory for all private and government educational institutions.

Verification of present employees and all employees before their appointment be got done compulsorily from NADRA sex offender register.

The protection of children will be ensured due to new policy.
