Peshawar: Peshawar High Court (PHC) while issuing decision on the petition against irrelevant gatherings in public places and premises of government and educational institutions has imposed ban on holding public meetings, rallies and other public gathering around

government institutions.

The high court has imposed a ban on political meetings, processions, and other gatherings around government institutions. The ruling states that political gatherings will not be allowed within the premises of educational institutions, government offices, and administrative buildings.

Justice Sahibzada Asad Ullah issued 5-page decision.

It has been further said in the court's decision that the responsibility for using premises of government institutions lies with the respective officers. Therefore, they must ensure that these institutions are not used for political purpose.

The decision said that government institutions are established for specific purpose while irrelevant gatherings violate the sanctity of intuitions. Their prevention is must.

The court directed that the heads of educational and other government institutions must ensure that unrelated gatherings are prevented at all costs.

The counsel for the petitioner had taken the plea holding gathering in premises of government and educational institutions is violation of article 4 of the constitution.
