Islamabad: Additional Attorney General (AAG) Munawar Iqbal Duggal has informed Islamabad High Court (IHC) Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has written a letter to US president for remittance of sentence and release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui from US prison.
The petition related to release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui and her return to Pakistan came up for hearing in single bench of IHC led by justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan Friday.
Petition was filed by Fouzia Siddiqui sister of Dr Aafia Siddiqui petition in IHC.
Imran Shafiq advocate appeared on behalf of Fozia Siddiqui.
Imran Shafiq counsel for Dr Fouzia Siddiqui while talking to media men said big headway has been made in the case due to our efforts after two years. This is good step of the government. PM has written a letter to US president that Dr Aafia Siddiui be released forthwith.
We had requested the court that government of Pakistan should demand of US government to release Dr Aafia Siddiqui.

The court had directed that government should extend full cooperation in this regard. The second important step is this court had directed government to send high level delegation to US in this respect.
