Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has launched National semiconductor program.
He said war of semiconductor narrative is underway in the world. This project was critical need of the hour.
He said this while speaking at the launch ceremony in Islamabad Tuesday.
He held Pakistan is rich with natural resources. Benefitting from semiconductor is our responsibility. We are answerable to nation in this regard. It is our responsibility to take full advantage of resources and inform the nation in this respect.
Rs 4.5 billion have been allocated to this project under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP), he said adding this is beginning and more resources will be provided by the government for this project.
He remarked this project is for the future of Pakistan and for young generation.
Government has started several projects under digital Pakistan vision.
FBR, digitalization, cashless economy, are part of important projects.
Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima said it is an historic day that the first national semiconductor program has been launched in Pakistan.
She said PM Technology program is not merely a technology but it is foundation for self reliance and economic sovereignty of Pakistan. Clusters in 9 universities will be established under this program.
