Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMandDC) has officially launched the National Inspector Pilot Training, marking a major step toward modernizing and standardizing the inspection and accreditation processes of medical and dental institutions across Pakistan. The initiative aims to enhance regulatory efficiency through digital technologies and to build a highly skilled national pool of inspectors capable of ensuring quality, transparency, and compliance in medical and dental education.
The three-day training program was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, President PMandDC, who described it as a 'momentous step' toward strengthening inspection standards and advancing digital transformation in the national accreditation process. He acknowledged the support and guidance of Federal Minister for Health, NHSRandC, Syed Mustafa Kamal, praising his role in facilitating PMandDC's key initiatives.
The pilot program brought together 60 master trainers and inspectors from across Pakistan, representing Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ICT, and the Armed Forces, ensuring nationwide inclusivity. Participants received hands-on training on Digi-Inspect, Pakistan's first digital inspection platform, and an overview of the updated Inspector Guide, including Proforma 350 for standardized inspections.
On Day 1, participants engaged in focus discussions, system briefings, and practical familiarization with updated inspection proformas and guidelines. They were divided into 10 multidisciplinary teams comprising experts in Basic Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Medical Education, Biomedical Engineering, Hospital Management, and Civil Engineering/Architecture.
Day 2 will see field-based digital mock inspections at ten medical and dental colleges, where teams will apply PMandDC's standardized tools, use the Digi-Inspect system in real time, and test digital Proforma 350 in actual institutional environments. This phase is designed to validate logistics, identify operational challenges, and assess on-ground compliance, supervised by ten experienced facilitators.
Day 3 will focus on consolidating inspection findings, aligning scoring standards, evaluating participant learning, and collecting comprehensive feedback to refine digital tools and processes. The outcomes of the three-day program will inform the nationwide rollout of the digital inspection system.
Following the pilot, the certified master trainers will conduct further regional training sessions in Karachi, Lahore, KPK, Balochistan, ICT/Rawalpindi, and the Armed Forces, ensuring standardized implementation across the country.
Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj emphasized that PMandDC is committed to ensuring that medical and dental education in Pakistan meets global standards through innovation, transparency, and robust evaluation mechanisms, now strengthened by digitalization.
