Police flag march in Attock shows Muharram preparedness

Attock: The Attock police along with contingents of Pakistan Rangers on Saturday conducted a flag march with an objective to maintain peace and tranquility in the city during Muharram-ul-Haram.

The flag march under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Investigation Imran Razzaq attended by contingents of Muhafaz squads, Elite Force squads and traffic police started from

Police Line and culminated at the same point after marching on city roads including Muharram and Ashura processions. Speaking on this occasion, Imran Razzaq has said that flag-march aimed at making the public feel a sense of protection and security and exhibiting the police

preparedness. He said that district police had ensured strict security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. He said that police would accomplish responsibility in an efficient manner to ensure protection to lives and property of citizens. He said that police would maintain a close liaison with peace committees and organisers of majalis and processions to ensure peace. He claimed that stringent security measures have been adopted in the district to avoid any untoward incident during the month of Muharram. Meanwhile deputy commissioner Muhammad Zulqurnain along with assistant commissioner city Samman Abbas, official of municipal administration, Police and other law enforcement agencies visited main routes of Ashura procession and main imambargah

Panjnati in Attock cantonment to review the arrangements of safety, security and facilities to mourners. Speaking to media on this occasion he said that leave of the all officials especially police and health services are cancelled in connection to contingency plan. He said that rangers

would be on standby duty to avert any untoward incident during Muharram ul Harram.He said that no one will be allowed to harm peace during the sacred month and all resources will be utilized to facilitate mourners. Responding a question, he said that CCTV cameras have been fixed on all routes of processions, in and around imambargahs for ensuring round the clock monitoring of majaalis and processions during Muharram, he said, adding distribution of “hate

material and wall chalking” will not be tolerated. Mr Zulqurnain has said that work on removal of encroachments along with repair and maintenance is in progress on all roads that are a part of

procession routes, he said, adding officials from the district administration, health, Wapda and other departments would accompany all processions. He said that control rooms were also

functional to monitor mourning processions and majaalis in all tehsils of district.
