Politics on economy should be ended forever: Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has said the process of new appointments in Pakistan Army was peacefully accomplished and people now onwards will have much more hopes from the new army’s leadership.

Expressing his views during an interview with a private TV channel, Mohammad Ishaq Dar said the outgoing army’s leadership as per its abilities and competency served the country to their level best whereas people now onwards will have much more expectations from the new army’s leadership. He said on this matter the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi took decision in the light of national interest.

He said no-one needs to play politics on matter related to economy of the country and all the political parties need to be united to come out of this whirlpool to take the country forward, and added the politics on economy for always needs to be shut up. He said God-willing the masses will be given relief in 2023 Budget. “I will soon announce a high-level committee after consultation with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in the light of Federal Shariat Court’s judgment against the interest-based system for enforcing the “Islamic Banking System,” he said.

He went on to say that groundwork on the matter along with the authorities of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) was underway and continued this committee will be constituted during next week or coming 10 days. He said the government will provide full support to this committee and added as per Bloomberg Pakistan’s chances to default stood only at only 10 percent.

The minister said the political instability creates economy instability besides it adversely affects financial institutions and stock markets. He said it also badly impacts the country’s dealings with international institutions and added at present economic stability was linked to democratic freedom. Former prime minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan came into power to slash the country’s debt but he increased them manifold.

Ishaq Dar said no-one should play politics on the economy of the country and the political parties need to come on a single page to take the country out of this whirlpool. The government was committed to eradicate the Riba System from the country, he said, and added he enjoyed full support of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in connection with implementing Federal Shariat Court’s verdict on this matter.
