Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has said postings and transfers in FBR will be made on merit only directing list of officers of good repute be evolved so that awards could be conferred on them on independence day .
He said merit and transparency will be top priority of the government. A weekly review meeting of FBR was held under PM Shehbaz Sharif. A detailed review on enhancement in revenue and progress in institutional reforms was presented in the meeting.
PM said government provided facility to export and local sector to possible extent with reference to tax and will continue to facilitate them in future as well. In collaboration with power sector informal economic activities and people and businesses involved in tax evasion be determined and legal proceedings be initiated against them.
Harmony between production sector of sugar and FBR statistics for the first time in the history of Pakistan bears clear evidence that tracking system installed by FBR IS showing proactive and better performance. Chairman FBR and his team deserve for appreciation in this regard.
PM directed that chairman FBR and senior officers should remain present in Karachi in the first week of every month so that the problems facing traders community could be heard and addressed.
The system of digital monitoring of production in textile , beverages, steel, poultry, edible oil, ghee, tyres sectors be functional till December.
PM was given briefing by FBR on installation of tracking system for production department , reforms introduced in FBR with reference to manpower and enhancing operational potential.
The meeting was informed tacking system is fully functional in sugar, cement, tobacco, tiles and fertilizer sectors while its installation process in further five departments is passing through final stage. Its tax potential exceeds Rs 700 billion.
PM directed that installation of tracking system for collection of direct tax in production sector be ensured by the end of current year.
