Islamabad: Period of quarterly adjustment relief of Rs 1.99 per unit will end in the current month and the electricity is feared to become expensive for the consumers in all over the country including Karachi under the head of quarterly adjustment from next month.

As per media report the electricity consumers are getting relief of over Rs 67.17 billon under the head of quarterly adjustment from January to March. However the three months period of this adjustment continuing from June 2026 will expire in the current month of August.

Later the adjustment from April to June 2026 is likely to be implemented from next month.

Power distribution companies have filed application in NEPRA in this regard that burden of over Rs 23 billion be shifted to the shoulders of electricity consumers. This stands Rs 1 per unit. However how much quarterly adjustment increases, it will be decided by NEPRA.
