Karachi: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Monem Zafar Khan said the Pakistan People Party (PPP) government in Sindh knows its responsibilities very well but is not intended to deliver in Karachi. The JI leader expressed these views while inaugurating a model street and reconstruction projects in North Nazimabad Town's Block A, UC 8. On the occasion, he was accompanied by North Nazimabad Town Chairman Atif Ali Khan and others.Speaking to the media on the occasion, Monem Zafar said, 'Over the past two and a half years, towns have not received even a single rupee under the development fund, while former City Nazim Naimatullah Khan had allocated Rs 10 million each to all union councils in his last budget.'He said that the PPP had been in power for the last 17 years, yet during the period no town in Karachi was provided development funds. Whatever budget the towns receive is limited only to the payment of salaries, he said, adding towns administered by JI are carrying out construction and development work through limited resources and their own funds, and this journey of public service will continue with honesty and integrity.Monem Zafar further said that the elected local government team of the JI has practically fulfilled the promise it made to the public of delivering services beyond its authority. Ninety percent of the development work in Block A has been completed, and the remaining work will also be completed soon.He noted that the town administration is also performing tasks that actually fall under the responsibility of the Water and Sewerage Corporation and the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, but unfortunately the concerned institutions are not fulfilling their duties. On this occasion, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami District Central Syed Wajih Hasan, JI Karachi Information Secretary Zahid Askari, Vice Town Chairman Zia Jamai, and other party officials flanked Monem Zafar.
