Islamabad: Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, during the weekly briefing, shared details of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s official visit to Malaysia from October 5 to 7, 2025, undertaken at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The two leaders held comprehensive discussions covering trade, investment, defense, education, and climate cooperation. A major highlight was Malaysia’s announcement to import halal meat worth USD 200 million from Pakistan, termed as a milestone in bilateral economic cooperation. Both leaders also launched the Urdu translation of Anwar Ibrahim’s book ‘SCRIPT: For a Better Malaysia.’
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the Pakistan-Malaysia Business and Investment Conference in Kuala Lumpur, inviting Malaysian investors to explore Pakistan’s market. He was also conferred an honorary Doctorate in Leadership and Governance by the Queen of Pahang.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared resolve to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development. They condemned the ongoing genocide in Gaza and reiterated support for an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The Spokesperson also highlighted Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s address to the National Assembly, detailing Pakistan’s active engagement during the 80th UNGA session. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance on Palestine and briefed on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s bilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, where discussions focused on trade expansion and counterterrorism cooperation.
Pakistan strongly condemned the interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla and the detention of 500 activists by Israeli forces. Senator Mushtaq, the last Pakistani detained, was released on October 7 and returned home safely.
Welcoming the ceasefire in Gaza, Pakistan termed it a ‘historic opportunity’ for lasting peace and appreciated the mediatory roles of the U.S., Qatar, Egypt, and Turkiye.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also held telephonic contacts with the Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia and Egypt to discuss the Gaza situation and reaffirm commitment to the two-state solution.
The briefing further covered the visit of a Saudi business delegation led by Prince Mansour bin Mohammad Al Saud to Islamabad, focusing on trade and investment cooperation under Saudi Vision 2030.
The Foreign Office also reported on consultations with Iran, the 6th Pakistan-Tajikistan Bilateral Political Consultations in Dushanbe, and Pakistan’s participation in the Moscow Format meetings on Afghanistan, represented by Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq.
