Promoting clean, affordable energy through solar power key to national energy policy: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has said promoting environment friendly , clean, and durable energy through solar power is component part of national energy policy.

He has directed complete transparency be ensured in procurement process for solar project.

A review meeting in connection with Gilgit Baltistan's 100 MW solar power project was held under PM .

He held 100 MW solar project is a gift from the federal government to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. Power Division should fulfill its responsibility for timely completion of the project.

Briefing on progress in regard to . Gilgit Baltistan's 100 MW solar power project was given.

It was informed that under the project, eighteen MW of rooftop solar systems, including battery storage, will be installed on four hundred and ninety nine government buildings by December this year.

It was informed that 13 lac people will benefit from the 82 MW utility-scale solar project and its PC-1 has been submitted to ECNEC for approval. .Service standard in Gilgit-Baltistan will improve with the completion of this project. It will help end load shedding.

The meeting was attended by minister for power division Sardar Awais Leghari, statement minister for finance and railway Bilal Azhar Kiyani and senior government officers.
