Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has said providing low cost homes to low income people is among the priorities of government.
A review meeting with reference to reforms in housing sector was held under PM Shehbaz Sharif Thursday.
PM said that reforms in the housing sector is dire need of hour in view of growing population.
Provision of residence to low income people, projects for low cost houses, encouragement of private sector and improvement in facilities for public are included in our priorities.
Pressure is increasing on agriculture land due to fast growing population and adopting a proper strategy in this regard is must.
PM directed to digitalize and automat all the matters in housing sector so that the transparency could be promoted.
It is essential to bring housing sector under rules and regulations to attract foreign investors therein.
Different proposals were presented in the meeting with reference to reforms in housing sector.
It was told in the meeting that regulatory framework with reference to provision of facilities to credible investors and developers will be eased to ensure transparency in housing sector.
Proposal was also given to declare registration of those working in housing and development sector compulsory with SECP .
Proposal for establishing one window system for protection of rights of developers, purchasers and other stake holders also came under consideration.
Meeting was attended by minister for economic affairs, Ahad Khan Cheema, housing minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, interior minister Mohsin Naqvi, law minister Azam Nazir Tarar , state minister for interior Talal Chaudhry, chairman NAB, Attorney Gen Mansoor Awan and others.
