Karachi: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Barrister Salman Akram Raja arrived in Karachi on Tuesday, where he offered condolences to PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh on the passing of his brother and prayed for the departed soul and patience for the bereaved family.The meeting was attended by PTI Karachi President Raja Azhar, General Secretary Arsalan Khalid, leaders of PTI Sindh and Karachi Division, members of the Sindh Assembly, representatives of the Insaf Lawyers Forum, Women Wing, Youth Wing, and other party office-bearers and workers.During his visit, Barrister Raja held separate meetings with PTI Sindh's leadership and organizational office-bearers to discuss the country's overall political situation, developments in Sindh, organizational affairs and the party's future strategy.Addressing the media, Barrister Raja announced that August 5, marking three years since the imprisonment of former prime minister Imran Khan, would be observed as a nationwide Black Day. He appealed to the public to raise their voice for Khan's release, the restoration of the Constitution, democracy, public mandate and relief from inflation.He said Imran Khan had been "unjustly imprisoned" for the past three years and asserted that PTI would continue its peaceful and constitutional struggle across the country until his release.Barrister Raja said unemployment was rising steadily, forcing young Pakistanis to leave the country in search of better opportunities, while soaring inflation had made life increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens. He claimed that petroleum prices in Pakistan were among the highest in the region, adding that economic policies had widened the gap between the rich and the poor.Criticizing the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)-led Sindh government, he alleged that the province's resources had been "destroyed" during its 18 years in power. He said farmers and agricultural workers are facing severe hardships due to water shortages, while roads and public infrastructure across Sindh had deteriorated significantly.Calling upon the people of Sindh to stand up for their constitutional and democratic rights, Barrister Raja urged them to join PTI's movement for what he described as "true freedom". He said Articles 15, 17 and 19 of the Constitution guaranteed citizens the rights to freedom of movement, association and expression, which, according to him, must be protected.He praised PTI Sindh's organizational structure, saying the provincial leadership and workers remained active and committed to safeguarding public rights. He added that PTI's struggle is not centered on any individual but aimed at ensuring Pakistan's survival, constitutional supremacy, the rule of law and the welfare of the underprivileged.Referring to Imran Khan, Barrister Raja described the former prime minister as a symbol of Pakistan's struggle for "true freedom". He maintained that those who believed in constitutional supremacy, the rule of law and genuine democracy should join PTI's movement.He further said the PTI Sindh leadership is steadfastly resisting what he termed a "fascist system" and remained committed to protecting the democratic, constitutional and economic rights of the people. He urged the people of Sindh to support the party's campaign to help establish constitutional rule, democratic governance and a welfare-oriented system in the country.
