Islamabad: The matter of delay in Cantt Board Local Bodies (LB) election came up for hearing in Election Commission (EC) under Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) .

During the hearing of the matter legal advisor to defence ministry made it clear the delay has not been made by the respective departments or EC but it has been caused due to non-approval by federal government.

Legal advisor said no delay has been caused from our side. The approval from federal government is pending since May 31. CEC said on this occasion your statement has come on record. He directed EC to contact Prime Minister Office immediately and seek clarification on the matter as soon as possible. The CEC adjourned the hearing of the matter for indefinite period.
