Public transport fares enhanced

Lahore: Punjab government has taken notice of arbitrary hike in the fare of public transport and assigned the task to Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Regional Transport Authority (RTA) to ensure implementation.

Transport department and transporters have agreed on not increasing the fares. Some transporters have shown willingness on not enhancing fare.

Transport department have taken affidavit from transporters on not raising the fares.

Secretary RTA Lahore Rana Mohsin has said different private transport companies have filed affidavits on not enhancing the fare. Action will be taken against those found involved in raising the fare arbitrarily.

Public transporters have increased the fare from Rs 100 to Rs 450. .

Fare from Lahore to Rawalpindi has been enhanced from Rs 3630 to Rs 3800, Lahore to Peshawar from Rs 4240 to Rs 4460 and Lahore to Sargodha from Rs 1730 to Rs 1810.

Fare from Lahore to Faisalabad has been raised from Rs 1580 to Rs 1655, Lahore to Multan from Rs 2890 to Rs 3050, from Lahore to Bahawalpur from Rs 3630 to Rs 3800, Lahore to Ahmad Pur from Rs 3710 to Rs 3890, Lahore to Swat from Rs 4480 to Rs 4700 and from Lahore to Karachi Rs 9720 to Rs 10170.
