Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired the second consecutive day of high-level accountability and performance review meetings of the provincial cabinet and all government departments. The three-hour session featured extensive briefings, highlighting record-breaking achievements, strict scrutiny, and major upcoming reforms.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that the Mines and Minerals Department generated Rs 33 billion, the highest revenue in Punjab's history. Health sector achievements were termed 'extraordinary,' with 16.5 million patients treated through the Clinic on Wheels service and 4.672 million patients benefiting from Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics. The Maryam Nawaz Hospital successfully carried out more than 16,700 surgeries.

Authorities further briefed that over 17,000 patients suffering from tuberculosis, hepatitis, and Type-1 diabetes received home delivery of essential medicines. During the recent floods, 1.25 million people were provided medical care through field hospitals, mobile clinics, Clinics on Wheels, and the innovative Clinics on Boats service.

Under the Mines and Minerals Ration Card Program, 17,655 workers received ration cards, and Rs 12 crore were directly transferred through over 40,000 bank transactions. For the first time in Punjab, nutritious lunches were provided to more than 40,000 special children, while over 36,000 children received free medical treatment at special education centres. Digital monitoring systems have also been introduced to prevent harassment incidents in special education facilities and transport.

A door-to-door enrollment campaign for special children has been launched with PITB support, alongside computer training programs for children aged 16-18.

On disaster preparedness, the Chief Minister directed immediate and war-footing measures to counter potential flooding, including rainwater harvesting using temporary tanks and clearing link canals. Conditional approval was granted to the Irrigation Department to hire staff during flood emergencies. She also praised the Minister and Secretary for their exemplary work during recent floods.

The meeting was informed that 13 Sahulat Bazaars are functional in Lahore, and 33 more will become operational across Punjab by December. Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics are reporting significantly higher patient flow due to enhanced service quality, treating 3.5 million patients in OPDs. These clinics offer OPD, ANC, delivery, PNC, immunization, and family planning services, all digitally monitored.

Punjab's first-ever Community Health Inspector Program has registered 636,180 families and over 3 million individuals across 570,777 households. Inspectors are gathering key data on education, health, agriculture, and socio-economic indicators. The Chief Minister ordered full-scale implementation of the program.

Officials also informed that Punjab has approved heart disease treatment decisions within 45 minutes, and the CM has set June 30 as the deadline for fully outsourcing 313 Rural Health Centres. A province-wide telemedicine system will soon connect doctors and patients, while a comprehensive Health Information Management System (HIMS) will digitize patient and doctor access to medical records.

CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed immediate provision of essential medical equipment to all DHQ and THQ hospitals. The meeting also marked the launch of the Punjab Value Addition Financing for Pink Salt Project, offering interest-free loans of up to Rs 50 million. A detailed briefing on the Placer Gold Project was also given, with orders to expedite progress.

The Chief Minister stressed proactive measures ahead of future floods, adding that 'every drop of water must be preserved and protected.' She declared Punjab's health reforms a 'global case study in effective governance' and reaffirmed her commitment to establishing Sahulat Bazaars in every tehsil within 3-4 months, ensuring home delivery of insulin, and ending long queues for patients.

'Punjab has delivered unprecedented performance and accountability. What this government has achieved in just one and a half years was not accomplished in decades,' she said.
